Calorie Calculator
Find your daily calorie needs based on your BMR and activity level
Frequently Asked Questions
This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, widely considered the most accurate: Men: BMR = 10×weight(kg) + 6.25×height(cm) − 5×age + 5. Women: BMR = 10×weight(kg) + 6.25×height(cm) − 5×age − 161.
BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the calories you'd burn doing nothing but staying alive. TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is your BMR multiplied by an activity factor, which represents your actual total daily calorie burn including movement and exercise.
A deficit of about 500 calories/day below your TDEE produces roughly 1 lb of weight loss per week, since 1 lb of fat is roughly 3,500 calories. This calculator shows that estimate alongside your maintenance number.
It's often the biggest swing factor in your total calorie needs — the difference between sedentary and very active can be 500+ calories a day, larger than most other individual factors combined.
Mifflin-St Jeor formula
Men: BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age + 5. Women: BMR = 10 × weight(kg) + 6.25 × height(cm) − 5 × age − 161. TDEE = BMR × activity multiplier.
