Banquet cost (guests × cost per person) plus fixed vendor costs (photographer, videographer, DJ, decor, dress, rings, cake) and any optional add-ons are summed, then multiplied by a regional cost-of-living multiplier and a seasonal demand multiplier.

Catering/banquet cost scales directly with headcount and is usually the single largest line item — cutting your guest list is one of the most effective ways to reduce overall wedding cost, since it also indirectly reduces rentals, favors, and invitations.

Peak wedding season (summer Saturdays) sees the highest demand for venues and vendors, who often charge premium rates — booking a winter weekday or an off-peak season can meaningfully lower costs for the same style of wedding.

This covers the core wedding day budget; it doesn't include a honeymoon, engagement ring (separate from wedding rings/bands), rehearsal dinner, or extensive out-of-town guest costs — budget those separately.
