Frequently Asked Questions
CPM = Total ad spend ÷ Impressions × 1,000. It's the cost to show your ad 1,000 times, the standard pricing unit for display and video advertising.
It varies enormously by platform, format, and audience targeting — display ads often run $2-15 CPM, video ads $10-30+, and highly targeted or premium placements can run much higher. Compare CPM against your own historical campaigns and platform benchmarks, not a universal number.
CPM prices exposure (every 1,000 views), regardless of whether anyone clicks. CPC (cost per click) only charges when someone actually clicks. A low CPM doesn't guarantee a good return if the click-through rate is also low — pair CPM with CTR and conversion rate to judge true value.
Impressions count every time an ad is shown, including repeat views by the same person. Reach counts unique people who saw it at least once. Frequency = impressions ÷ reach — the average number of times each person saw the ad.
