Frequently Asked Questions

No — the CFT (Combat Fitness Test) and PFT (Physical Fitness Test) are separate 300-point tests with completely different events. The CFT measures Movement to Contact (an 880-yard sprint in boots and utility uniform), the Ammunition Can Lift, and Maneuver Under Fire. The PFT measures pull-ups/push-ups, a plank hold, and a 3-mile run. Both are required, and both are scored separately.
An 880-yard sprint performed in boots and the utility uniform, simulating a rush to contact under fire. It's scored by age bracket and gender, similar to the PFT's 3-mile run.
A muscular-endurance event: repeatedly lifting a 30 lb ammo can from shoulder height to fully overhead, as many times as possible within 2 minutes.
A complex ~300-yard shuttle course combining sprints, an agility run, a high crawl, a low crawl, a body drag, a fireman's carry, an ammo can carry, push-ups, and a grenade throw for accuracy.
Like the PFT, each event has a 40-point minimum floor (falling below 40 on any event fails the whole test), and the combined total must reach at least 150 points out of 300 to pass. Class bands are: 1st Class 235-300, 2nd Class 200-234, 3rd Class 150-199.
No — as of this writing, the January 2026 sex-neutral scoring rule (male-normed tables, 210-point threshold) applies only to the PFT for combat-arms MOSs. No equivalent CFT-specific change has been announced.
