Ideal Weight Calculator
See your ideal body weight from three clinical formulas
Frequently Asked Questions
Devine (1974), Robinson (1983), and Hamwi (1964) — all originally developed for clinical use like medication dosing, and still widely referenced as general ideal body weight estimates today.
Each was derived from different population data and research goals, so they weight height differently. Most people's ideal weight range spans across all three, which is why this calculator shows all of them rather than picking one as 'correct.'
No — these formulas were built for average body frames and don't account for muscle mass, bone density, or individual body composition. They're a general reference point, not a personalized target, especially for athletes or larger frames.
Formulas used (converted to pounds)
Devine: Male = 50 + 2.3 × (height in − 60) kg. Robinson: Male = 52 + 1.9 × (height in − 60) kg. Hamwi: Male = 48 + 2.7 × (height in − 60) kg. Female formulas use lower base values and coefficients. All results shown are converted from kg to lbs.
